STEVE Warne plays his final game for Belper Town at Brigg Town on Saturday as his current loan deal expires, but Belper boss Peter Duffield is hopeful that Matlock will allow him to stay at Christchurch Meadow.
“Steve’s enjoyed his spell with us and I’m keen for him to stay, but it’s down to Matlock and the player himself in the end” said Duffield.
“He’s contracted to Matlock and that’s why he didn’t play in the FA Trophy.”
The Nailers also await the decision of striker Lee Morris as he contemplates his future following an approach from North Ferriby United, although Duffield has made it clear to the former Matlock man that he would like him to stay.
The Nailers will travel to Bedford-based Evo-Stik SPL Central Division side Barton Rovers in the next round of the FA Trophy. They beat Shepshed Dynamo 2-1 last Saturday, and currently occupy bottom place in their league having won just once in ten outings.
The Nailers have a rearranged fixture at Brigg Town on Saturday, followed by a trip to Sheffield FC on Tuesday (October 18) in the League Cup.
The Reserve team begin a sequence of three away fixtures starting with Borrowash Victoria reserves on October 15, followed by Dinnington Town reserves on October 22, and then Clipstone Welfare Reserves on the 29th.
