Froggatt hat-trick takes Belper Town through

BELPER Town are through to the Evo-Stik League Cup second round after a 4-2 extra time victory over Carlton Town on Wednesday night.

The Nailers gained revenge for a 3-2 defeat in the league at the Notts club last weekend as they gave new manager Peter Duffield his first win.

Belper opened up a two-goal lead through goals from Lee Morris on 22 minutes and Froggatt on 36 and it stayed that way until the dying embers of the match.

With full time looming, Carlton scored twice in three minutes through Ryan Goward on 86 and Ashley Grayson on 89 minutes to take the cup tie into extra time.

Froggatt put the Nailers back in front on 102 minutes and wrapped up the victory with his hat-trick goal on 113.

This Saturday, Belper Town are away at Rainworth Miners’ Welfare in Evo-Stik League First Division South action (3pm).

Next Tuesday (October 4), home supporters will get the chance to see Duffield in charge of the Nailers at Christchurch Meadow for the first time when Belper Town take on Goole AFC (7.45pm).
