The weeks of preparation are almost over for Belper United as their eagerly-awaited Central Midlands League campaign gets under way this Saturday.
United will have a busy start to the 2014-2015 campaign, with seven games scheduled for the first team in the opening 21 days of the campaign.
Paul Postlethwaite’s side begin this Saturday (August 9) with an away fixture at Blidworth Welfare, with the game kicking off at 3pm.
The first home game is on Wednesday, August 13, from 7.45pm against local rivals Swanwick Pentrich Road.
The reserves’ season starts on Tuesday, August 12, from 6.30pm at Mickleover RBL.
Over the next few weeks, the first team will also be in action on Saturday, August 16, at Calverton MW, at home to Holbrook St Michaels on August 20, then at home to Clifton All Whites on August 23, followed by a match at Hucknall Town on August 25.
After that, there is a game at home to Hucknall Rolls-Royce Leisure on August 30, at Mickleover RBL on September 3, at Real United on September 6, and then at the newly-formed Eastwood Community Football Club on September 13.
The reserves will follow up their opening fixture with a game at home to Pinxton Reserves on August 16 and then at home to Swanwick Pentrich Road Reserves on August 19.
Thoresby CW Reserves are the visitors on August 23.
Meanwhile, United have played two more pre-season games, both against local opposition.
They earned a 2-2 draw against Holbrook Sports thanks to goals from Sam Vickers and Tarik Harvey.
They also played Graham St Prims and beat their hosts 2-1.
