Goals galore as MRA teams enjoy travels

it certainly paid to travel if you wanted to score goals on Saturday in the Midlands Regional Alliance.

Derby Royals won 9-2 at Ashover, Allenton United won 7-2 at Derby Rolls-Royce Leisure, Rowsley 86 won 7-0 at Sandiacre Town and Chellaston Reserves won 7-1 at Roe Farm.

The first three were in the Premier Division while the last one was a Division Two game.

Added to which, the Premier Division game between Willington and Swanwick Pentrich Road was postponed because of a plethora of rabbit holes on the pitch.

Joe Palmer and Perry Richards scored for Ashover in their 9-2 loss.

Curtis Read and Andy Dawkins both scored for Royces but were outscored by Dave Carr (three), Erroll Johnson, Patrick McBean, Adam Birch and Zaris Mugonvic for Allenton.

Melbourne Dynamo trailed Matlock Sports early doors in the Premier Division game but came back to win 4-2.

Carl Adams, Ryan Gray, Adam Ross and Danny Guild scored for Melbourne while those early strikes for Matlock came courtesy of Ben Furniss.

Cromford won 2-0 at Newmount while Mickleover RBL, thanks to two penalties, beat Wirksworth Town 2-0.

St Michael’s then doubled up on the number of home wins by defeating Chellaston 3-2.

Josh Johnson (two), and Charlie Bangura scored the goals.

Derbyshire Amateurs had the big home win of the day in Division One as they beat Holbrook St Michael’s Reserves 5-0 with two goals from Elliott Perry and one each from Grant Strickson, Sam Marshall and a Holbrook player.

Matt Cole scored for Bargate Rovers as they lost 2-1 to Derby Singh Brothers while Aaron Anderson and Lee Flynn were the Findern scorers in their 4-2 defeat by Woolley Moor United.

Mandefh Johal scored the Punjab United goal in their 1-1 draw with Ripley Town.

Mark Waghorn and Aaron Brady scored for Swanwick Pentrich Road Reserves.

However, it was not enough as three goals from Matt Savage and one from Martin Savage gave Derby Rolls-Royce Leisure Reserves the 4-2 win.

Six was a good score if you wanted to win in Division Two. Both Derby Royals Reserves and Wirksworth Ivanhoe hit the mark.

The Royals beat Bargate Rovers Reserves 6-3 with Tom Beresford scoring three, James Smith two and Ashley Broadhurst one.

The Ivanhoe beat Hilton Harriers 6-0 with Ben Marsh bagging four of their goals. Vince Kinder and Andy King completed the scoring.

Tristan Russell, Jack Denham and Ben Ormond scored the Mackworth St Francis goals in their 3-0 victory over Little Eaton Reserves.
