It’s Anna at the double as girls battle hard

GFC Alfreton U14s 5 Belper Town Girls U14s 2

Another improved performance by Belper not reflected by the score.

Failure to adapt to Alfreton’s long ball tactics and their offside trap cost Belper. The first half was an open game and both sides had their fair share of chances.

Alfreton were ahead at the break from two through balls neatly converted.

The lead was extended with a 30-yard lob and later in the half with two more just like those in the first half. However, two late goals from Anna McKay, the first a solo run from her own half, left Belper wondering what could have been and Alfreton hanging on as late pressure almost led to more.

Molly Talbot took the player of the week award for a performance of effort, determination, skill and game awareness.
