Belper United boss Paul Postlethwaite believes Saturday’s 3-0 win against Harrowby Saints has given them a platform to build upon.

United went ahead in the fifth minute through Tim Perry, before Ash Dhindsa and Sam Vickers wrapped the win up in the second half.

Said Postlethwaite said: “We are very happy with the three points. Three goals and a clean sheet after a busy couple of weeks is very pleasing, without really playing at our best.

“We now have a couple of weeks without league action with three away cup games to prepare for.

“We have a local derby against Holbrook St Michaels in the League cup next week, then our massive FA Vase 1st round match away at Borrowash Vics and finally a Derbyshire Senior Cup midweek game away at Dronfield Town.

“So we will have to utilise our squad to full, but we feel we have a good chance in all three games and will be giving it our best.

Belper United got off to a fast start when Tim Perry scored in the fifth minute after a Joe Conkleton free-kick caused chaos in the Harrowby defence.

The game then went into a lull for the rest of the half with United never getting out of second gear.

Harrowby had a lot of possession without really hurting United, except from one effort that came back of the post from a very tight angle.

United should have doubled their lead on 40 minutes from a corner, but an excellent save from the Saints keeper saw a header clawed off the line.

But they doubled their lead after 64 minutes when an inswinging corner from Conkleton was hacked off the line straight back to the corner taker.

Conkleton then picked out Ash Dhindsa were finished from close range.

10 minutes later United secured the victory with the best goal of the game.

Great interplay down the right from Louis Mundin and Jon Poplar fed in Perry, whose exquisite cross from the byline found Sam Vickers at the back post and his sweet volley found the back of the net.
