Belper United earned their first Central Midlands League win of the season in spectacular style on Saturday.
Paul Postlethwaite’s men followed up a narrow opening day defeat and a 1-1 draw on Wednesday with Swanwick Pentrich Road by hammering hosts Calverton MW 9-0.
United made one change from Wednesdays draw with Swanwick. Ryan Wheatcroft came in for Gary Conway. Ash Dhindsa joined the forward line with Sam Vickers reverting to his wide left role.
United stamped their authority on the game after only 12 minutes with a fine goal from Luke Crosby. Seven minutes later, Sam Vickers latched on to a long clearance from Scott Whittingham and easily slotted home.
After 21 minutes Jamie Sparkes made it 3-0.
Ash Dhindsa added two goals either side of a Tim Perry effort to take Belper United into half time six goals to the good.
In the second half, United made it seven after 50 minutes when Joe Conkleton tapped in at the far post after a Sam Vickers cross shot.
Luke Crosby then added two more to complete his hat-trick and round off a dominant display from United.
Manager Paul Postlethwaite was understandably delighted with the display and the result.
He said: “We finally got the reward our play deserved on Saturday.
“We had 15 players unavailable due to holidays and still put two strong squads out and recorded two fine victories without conceding a goal.
“We are still looking to build and have put in seven days for two players, as well as looking bringing in some currently unattached players as well.”
He added: “We were very clinical today. The forwards now take some confidence into Wednesday’s (tonight) local derby game against Holbrook St Michaels.”
