Number nine was the order of the day last Saturday with Punjab United in the Premier Division and Ambergate and Melbourne Dynamo Reserves in the Challenge Cup, all scoring nine times.
Punjab beat Sandiacre Town 9-0 with three goals from Thomas Cooper-Richards, two from Jordan Patten and Courtney Webster and one each from Lewis Stone and Kamalijit Ajula.
The next highest score in the top division was four. Swanwick Pentrich Road beat Derby Rolls-Royce Leisure 4-2, OwenBrown and Shaun Gordon scoring for Royces, and Melbourne Dynamo won 4-2 at Matlock Sports with a brace of goals each from dave Brough and Jack Purkiss. Daz Webster and Callam Lympham scoring for Matlock.
Rowsley ‘86 scored all of the goals in their 3-1 win over Newhall United. Tim Baker with a brace and one from Andy Roome got the ones that countes for Rowsley. Newhall’s reply was an own goal.
Two late goals gave AllentonUnited a 2-0 win over Chellaston while Allestree lost 2-1 to Willington. Luke Tozer scored the Allestree goal.
Danny Palmer scored for Newmount in a 1-1 draw with Cromford.
Six was the top score in division one, the figure being achieved by Allenton United Reserves who beat Ripley Town 6-2 with goals from Paul Tyres (2), Chris Blacksheilds (2), Ryan O’Connor and zarif Mujanovic.
Mickleover RBL Reserves also hit half-a-dozen in a 6-0 win at Wirksworth Ivanhoe.
There were seven goals in the game at Bargate where Woolley Moor United beat hosts Rovers 4-3. Paul White (2) and Dean Corney scoring or Bargate.
Gary Wilkinson scored the Tibshelf goal in their 3-1 loss to Little Eaton.
The first round of the Challenge Cup saw Ambergate thrash Bargate Rovers Reserves 9-2. Sam Hicking and Rich Clarke both scored hat-tricks with the others coming from Jamie Waldron (2) and Tom Aston.
Melbourne Dynamo Reserves had to travel to Willington Sports to win 9-3. Vinnie Hallifield hit a hat-trick in this win with Ben Dale and Gary Croaker both scoring twice. Paul Makin and Rob James both scored once for Melbourne while James Cooper, Wiz Belmoore and Ryan Henshaw got the Willington goals.
Mackworth St Francis Reserves needed extra-time to beat Punjab United Reserves 4-1.
Simon Beasey netted the Hilton Harriers goal in a 5-1 defeat at Newton while Steve Hugo scored in the Newhall United Reserves goal in their 2-1 defeat by Shardlow St.James. Liam McCormack and Liam Slater both scoring for Shardlow.
Roe Farm, who didn’t win a single game last season, made it two wins on the trot as they beat Tibshelf Reserves 6-2. Nathan Flint and Sam Hollett scored the Tibshelf goals.
