Under sevens secure a victory

Belper Sports under sevens played unbeaten Riverside Ravens at Mackworth Derby and were looking to continue their winning sequence.

Belper with their dominant midfield of Chadwick, Mizon, Smithurst and Ratcliffe started to overwhelm the opposition. They forced corner after corner and hit the post twice. Ravens’ keeper was in inspired form, keeping out Harris Mizon’s shots not once but three times.

Ravens took the lead against the run of play when their shot beat keeper Tomlinson.

But Sports rallied and after the keeper saved a shot by Harris Mizon, Harry Chadwick was on hand to score a good goal to make it 1 -1.

Luca Mistery and Edward Hewitt were marshalling the Sports defence superbly in the second half and minimising Riverside to a few shots.

Belper’s midfield was starting to overrun the opposition when Max Ratcliffe slid through a great pass to captain Harris Mizon to fire home his 15th league goal of the season to make it 2-1.

Belper were still pushing for a third but the game finished and Sports fully deserved their win.
