Leaders closing in on premier crown

HAVING won 4-3 at Newmount on Thursday evening, Allenton United then took another step towards the Premier Division title by beating visitors Holbrook St Michaels 2-0 on Saturday.

Jennison, Bardlsey and Ashley had scored for Newmount on Thursday and James Jennison was on target again, along with Josh Lord and Charles Salloway in a 3-0 victory at Swanwick Pentrich Road on Saturday.

There were two wins in the week for Rowsley ‘86. A 4-1 victory at Belper United, Lewis Whiting scoring the United goal, being followed by a 3-0 win over Castle Donington Town.

Tim Baker (2) and Aaron O’Neill hit the goals in the later win.

Melbourne Dynamo also boasted two wins in the week. Lee Scott scored the only goal as they beat Castle Donington Town 1-0 before Dave Brough, Danny Guild and Carl Allsopp scored in a 3-1 win over Wirksworth Town at the weekend. Carl Moore got the Wirksworth reply.

Wirksworth Town won 3-0 at Cromford in the week, Cromford recovering from that loss to thrash Ashover 6-0 as Scott Rider hit a hat-trick, Danny Wildgoose a brace and Billy Lobley one in the win.

Sandiacre Town, who had started Allenton United three matches in the week with a 5-1 loss to them, played the second team in the league Willington on Saturday and lost 4-0.

The Willington goals came courtesy a brace apiece from Sam Bartram and Danny Slowinski.

Chellaston lost 1-0 to Derby Rolls-Royce Leisure, largely due to an inspired display by the Royce’s keeper while an injury time goal by Long Eaton United Reserves saw them draw 1-1 with Belper United, Lewis Whiting with the Belper goal.

Having suffered a surprise home defeat on Monday ev ening, Mickleover RBL got their division one title challenge back on track as they beat Allestree 2-1 thanks to goals from Ben Frearson and Kieron Ryder before winning 4-0 at Holbrook St Michaels Reserves.

Punjab United, who inflicted the defeat on Mickleover, took two points off of Derby Royals in a 1-1 draw before losing 3-2 to second-from-bottom Bargate Rovers.

Bargate twice came from behind to win with goals from Wayne Hall, Matt Cole and Paul Robinson.

Derbyshire Amateurs beat Little Eaton 2-0 with goals from James Collins and Grant Strickson before Little Eaton went on to lose 3-2 to Matlock Sports, Ian Hall and Simon Steadman scoring in the second loss.

Rich Clark scored the Holbrook St Michaels Reserves’ goal in a 1-1 draw with Derby Rolls-Royce Leisure Reserves while Ripley Town scored four away from home for the second time in the week in winning 4-1 at Findern. Ripley’s victory was led by a hat-trick from Nathan Ball with Jake Watson also on target. Paul Smith got the home reply.

Two goals from Dan Sharp and one from Stephen Bills enabled Allestree to beat Selston 3-2 and slow the Notts side’s promotion push.

A 2-2 draw for Derby Singh Brothers at Sandiacre Town Reserves gave the chasing pack hope in the battle for the division two title.

Woolley Moor United, with a 2-1 win at Wirksworth Town Reserves and a 4-1 win at Melbourne Dynamo Reserves are rapidly emerging as the main danger.

Matt Redshaw scored for Wirksworth and Adam Doleman for Melbourne.

Rowsley ‘86 Reserves remain in contention though thanks to a 4-0 win over Pastures Reserves.

Wirksworth Ivanhoe, having beaten Swanwick Pentrich Road Reserves 3-0 with two goals from Ben Marsh and one from Vince Kinder, then went down 4-0 to Mickleover RBL Reserves for whom Gavin Chadwick bagged a hat-trick and Chris Towney one.

Ben Childs and Chris Warmby both scored for Selston Reserves as they beat Bargate Rovers Reserves 2-0 while Hilton Harriers went down 2-0 to Swanwick Pentirch Road Reserves whose goals came from Dave Fretwell and Mark Waghorn.

Chris Evans and Wayne Randall both hit a brace of goals for Ambergate as they beat Wirksworth Town Reserves 5-2.

David Fulwood scored the fifth Ambergate goal with Matt Redshaw scoring both of the Wirksworth replies.
