Mud, mud, glorious mud. It would be no mean feat to be presented with the task of washing the cycle clothing worn for the latest mudfest that was the SRAM NDCXL cyclo-cross race (Round 12).

This was held at Thornbridge Outdoor Centre on Saturday and, despite the conditions, Belper Bicycle Club were still able to supply 11 riders.

In the under 12s race, Christian Boon was the highest placed Belper rider in ninth.

In the Youth event that followed, Isabelle Boon rocketed around the course to become the second under 14s girl to cross the line, with Alice Warbrick coming home in seventh in the same age group. Belper’s Taylor Marshall also rode.

The Seniors event was won by David Fletcher (riding for Orange Monkey), with Tony Goldstraw (Empella) being the first Belper rider across the line.

Some of these will be in the National Championship races at Moorways, Derby, on January 6. On the day there is also a packed schedule of activities for youngsters in Osmaston Park (just over the road from Moorways), hosted by Cycle Derby.
