Hat-trick for Mason as Ambergate go top

AMBERGATE first XI bowler Phil Mason included a hat-trick as he took 7-23 in his side's massive 219-run victory over West Hallam last Saturday.

Ambergate posted 262-5 from their 46 overs with Rob Heath’s 68 not out being added to by 63 from Peter Thompson and 47 from Jonathan Heath.

West Hallam’s reply was left in tatters by the accuracy of Phil Mason and the visitors were skittled out for just 43 from 17.2 overs to give Ambergate a huge victory margin.

The 27 points from the win moved Ambergate to the top of the table.

Ambergate seconds fell to a six wicket defeat at South Wingfield in Division 5N.

South Wingfield (22pts) 186-4 [41 overs] (S Colclough 99) beat Ambergate 2nds (6pts) 185 all out [40.3 overs] (C Pratt 46, J Walters 48, D Fenn 4-27, N Marshall 3-31) by 6 wickets.

In division 10N, Matlock (8pts) 174-8 [46 overs] (D Mullaney 45, T Watkinson 33*) drew with Ambergate (19pts) 228-6 [46 overs] (J Throw 75, B Mallett 54, T Watkinson 3-35).

Belper Meadows/Duffield

BELPER Meadows firsts hung on for a losing draw in the local derby at Duffield in County League Division Two last Saturday.

Duffield (19pts) 216-7 [46 overs] (R Holmes 30, Paul Bakel 38) drew with Belper Meadows (8pts) 160-9 [46 overs] (Peter Jenkins 43*, Dave Challinor 33).

Meadows seconds did taste victory though with an eight wicket success over Cromford Meadows in Division 5N.

Belper Meadows (22pts) 114-2 [28.3 overs] (Rob Borland 57*) beat Cromford Meadows (2pts) 113 all out [32.5 overs] (Michael Cox 5-19) by 8 wickets

In Division 6N, Shipley Hall seconds (7pts) 174-8 [46 overs] drew with Duffield seconds (19pts) 232-4 [46 overs] (P Lynn 94*, A Short 69*).

Denby

In Division One, Denby firsts held on for a losing draw at Matlock firsts in a high scoring game.

Matlock (18pts) 291-7 [50 overs] (C Meirkalns 65, C Visser 96, G Moulds 38, S Pell 38) drew with Denby (11pts) 252-8 [50 overs] (Ross Perry-Taylor 51, J Greenhalgh 64, Ben Perry-Taylor 40, S Payne 31*, G Moulds 4-69).

In Division Three, Denby seconds fell to a four wicket defeat at home to Alrewas.

Denby 2nds (7pts) 180-6 [46 overs] (P Burgoyne 34, S Mann 40) lost to Alrewas (22pts) 183-6 [44.1 overs] (P Chapman 35, O Broadway 46, P Burgoyne 3-20) by 4 wickets.

In Division 5N, Denby thirds (11pts) 168-5 [46 overs] (L Glenn 52, P Glenn 60, A Fisher 3-37) drew with Swanwick Hall (14pts) 190-8 [46 overs] (A Wilson 39, N Fretwell 52, P Glenn 3-51).

In Division 9N, Alfreton fourths (27pts) 137-9 [46 overs] beat Denby fourths (6pts) 133 all out [37.4 overs] (A Sherwood 58, A Sahai 3-35, D Thorpe 4-39, C Slater 3-17) by 4 runs.

Cup defeats

There were defeats for both Denby firsts and seconds last Sunday at the quarter final stages of the Marstons Cup.

Clifton 266-8 [50 overs] (R Mohmand 57, C Wedgwood 44, P Hunt 3-51, S Mann 3-54) beat Denby 2nds 89 all out [39 overs] (F Kirk 38, N Hopewell 3-12) by 177 runs.

Denby 1sts 204-8 [50 overs] (A Bria 47, S Poplar 68*) lost to Marehay 1sts 207-6 [49 overs] (M Camm 56, A Walters 39) by 4 wickets.
