Hot and humid, Hardwick

HARDWICK Park was the ideal location for a summer morning's sprint orienteering competition last Sunday.

Organised by Derwent Valley Orienteers, the event attracted over 100 competitors. Not being a technical area the parkland is suited more to the cross-country runner than the orienteer.

There were four courses, White and Yellow for juniors, Orange for the more experienced and novice adults to the sport and Light Green for the senior runners.

In hot and humid conditions, the four-kilometre course combined with 100m of uphill climb Light Green Course was completed in just 24 minutes and 47 seconds by Anthony Hall of South Yorkshire.
