BELPER Meadows Under-13s emerged victorious by just one run from their first home fixture of the season.
Visitors Wirksworth opted to bat and got off to a confident start with the openers hitting several boundaries.
Owen Patrick and Josh Rockley replaced openers Hayley Spendlove and Tom Hudson and managed to halt the runs somewhat before Wykeham Bosworth-Nightingale and Charlie Martin came on to really quieten the visitors down with some accurate bowling, Wykeham also claiming his first wicket of the season, smartly caught by George Rains.
Dylan Garnett and Kieran Leighton were introduced and both clean bowled one batter each, giving nothing away at all in impressive spells.
Wirksworth struggled to get runs and they were kept down to a competitive 103 after 20 overs with Harry Trent claiming another wicket.
On a damp pitch, Meadows knew a good start was required but lost Garnett early on.
Owen Patrick was unlucky to play onto his own stumps which brought in Harry Trent. Both he and Tom Hudson built a good innings with some hard work and tenacity with Tom retiring on 25 and Harry 26 not out.
George Rains upped the tempo along with keeper Eddie Green but rains fell to a catch at mid-wicket.
Needing a run-a-ball from the last three overs, Green and Hayley Spendlove saw the team over the line, running one off the last ball of the innings to sneak home with 104 off their 20 overs.
The Imperial Commercial Vehicles man of the match was difficult but went to Harry Trent.
