Ladies in Belper and the surrounding area took a trip down memory lane at a recent ‘Back to Netball’ session at Belper Leisure Centre.
The sessions were set up by Amber Valley Village Games in partnership with Belper Leisure Centre to offer local ladies a relaxed and informal route back into sport.
Village Games is a community-based organisation that helps to increase participation in physical activity, particularly amongst groups who may not feel there is currently the right sort of provision to meet their needs or circumstances.
‘Back to Netball’ is a popular campaign which was introduced by England Netball to entice women to take up the sport.
Beth Turner, Community Sports Activator, said: “These new Back to Netball sessions are particularly aimed at those who are looking for a gentle return to sport.
“They are informal and largely structured around how the participants want to play. Gone are the days of gym skirts. Just wear whatever you feel comfortable in.”
The one hour sessions are on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings at Belper Leisure Centre.
