The 18th English National Masters Badminton Championships were held at the Surrey Park Sports Complex at Guildford.

Derbyshire’s Janet Fletcher and her Over 60s Mixed Doubles partner Bob Bell (Cornwall) were looking to keep their 100 per cent competition success rate in the calendar year of 2012, but they eventually fell at the final hurdle, being beaten in the semi-finals by Emptage and Bartlett, who went on to win the event.

But there was compensation for the Belper-based Fletcher when she landed her first ever English Nationals title by winning the Womens Over 60 Singles event, beating Marguerite Butt from Devon in the final match.
