Last weekend saw perfect cyclo-cross conditions for Belper Bicycle Club riders in the grounds of Hardwick Hall in Chesterfield.

The setting played host to Round Eight of the SRAM NDCXL series and there was a clutch of good times posted by Belper riders.

The mud bath did not slow Belper’s Lara Husselbee however, as she flew around the under-9’s course to claim the title of fastest girl.

Fellow Belper rider Ella Langston also put in a good ride, as did Jack Husselbee in the under-14s category, Taylor Marshall (under-16s) and Liam Northridge (Under-14s) in the Youth race.

Elsewhere, Belper’s Jonathan Marshall (sponsored by Zepnat) was in top form as he posted a fourth-place finish in the Veteran’s race.

That was enough for Jonathan to claim the first place in his V45 age category.

The other usual contenders in this race also put in their best performances and this included Shaun Warbrick, David Husselbee, Tony Goldstraw (Empella sponsor) and Nick Bates.

Jane Warbrick was also in action in the women’s race, and posted a respectable 11th-placed finish in her category.

Round Nine takes place at Holme Pierrepont this Saturday afternoon.
