Belper Hockey Club Ladies’ team romped to a 4-0 triumph over North Staffordshire last weekend.
Belper had to withstand early pressure from the visitors and it took until 25 minutes for the hosts to break the deadlock.
A well-worked penalty corner was met with a neat deflection into the net by Charlotte Hobbs.
This was quickly followed a minute later by a deft deflection from Sally Goodman to make it 2-0.
In the second half further goals from Sally Goodman, from a penalty corner, and Rhiannon Rogers, with an opportunistic strike, cemented a solid 4-0 win.
Additions to the squad this season seems to have added more fitness and versatility to the team , which allows the team to maintain a high tempo throughout games - an aspect that most of their opponents seem to struggle with.
This win puts Belper at the top of the league for the first time this season.
Next Saturday they head to Lichfield for their final match before the mid-season break.
Meanwhile, Belper’s men side fell to a narrow defeat in their latest outing.
They lost 3-2 to University of Durham despite goals from Drew Burkin and Ben Walton.
