Belper United bounced back in fine style on Saturday after their Boxing Day setback to beat hosts Hucknall Town 6-3 in the Central Midlands League.
On 19 minutes, Dan Riley fed the ball through to Luke Crosby and his precision chest down on the edge of the area was expertly volleyed home by Jordan McRobie.
After 24 minutes, United doubled their lead after a lovely cross from Sam Vickers was headed home from the penalty spot by Luke Crosby. Sam Vickers was now giving the fullback a torrid time and another excellent run and cross was flicked in at the near post by McRobie for United’s third.
McRobie completed his hat-trick on 40 minutes before Hucknall pulled a goal back on 55 minutes.
McRobie then scored his fourth goal and the sixth goal was a Vickers penalty.
Manager Steve Watson said: “The game was over as a contest after 55 minutes as Hucknall Town couldn’t cope at all with our attacking football. We had been creating plenty of opportunities lately and not converting all our chances but today it all came right.
With Dan Riley driving on from midfield Jordan McRobie, Luke Crosby and Sam Vickers were just unstoppable going forward.
“This was a brilliant response to the Boxing Day defeat. The lads showed a lot of character and are now in a positive frame of mind for next weeks tricky League Cup third round tie away at Easington United from the Central Midlands League North.”
