Amber Valley and Erewash AC has had a clean sweep of wins in this year’s Derbyshire Track and Field Mini League.
They lifted the trophy for the third year in a row at the fourth and final match on Saturday at Moorways, Derby.
The club was totally dominant again this season, winning all four matches against Chesterfield, Derby, Blackwell and Heanor. The league is designed to provide a good standard of local competition for young athletes aged 9-14 years. In total, six new league records were set over the course of the season with AVEAC’s Cara Brown breaking the previous record in the U15 girls discus by just three centimetres.
Jessie Brown jumped a huge personal best in the U13 girls high jump to clear 1.41m which equalled the existing league record. Discus for the U13s has been a welcome addition to the league programme and Benjamin Jones takes the honour of claiming the first record in the boys event and Lily Naylor likewise in the girls event.
A club spokesperson said: “The club is having a fantastic summer season, with both individual and team success across all age groups, locally and nationally.”
AVEAC welcomes athletes from the age of eight and provides coaching and competition in track and field, cross country and sportshall athletics. More details can be found at www.aveac.org.uk
