Frighteningly good meet!

BELPER Marlin Swimming Club held a successful 28th B Grade Open Meet and Disability Competition last weekend.

The event was very well attended and was themed on Halloween and Ghoul in The Pool 2 and there was an exciting buzz and upbeat atmosphere.

Held in Derby, the meet attracted swimmers from Nottingham Leander, City of Derby, Derby Phoenix, Long Eaton, Kimberley, Ilkeston, Ashbourne, Matlock, Buxton, Calverton Bing, Newark, Bramcote and Ashbourne.

With over 240 swimmers taking part it proved a busy day for all involved and head coach Mike Brett and the club committee extend thanks to everyone who helped make the event a roaring success.

Some of the younger spectators came in fancy dress and there was even a coach or two in some creative outfits which helped to make the whole day a fun day as well as a competitive swim event.

Marlin swimmers swept up a massive amount of trophies and medals during the day.

City of Derby won the trophy for the top visiting club.

In the top ten male swimmers, Belper had some strong swimmers and romping into second place was Casper Raynard (9), fourth place George Chamberlain (12) and seventh place Elliott Stubbs (12).

Top ten female swimmers from Belper also produced some great swimming and putting Belper on the leader board were second placed Poppy Fisher (9), Amy Hewitt (14/0ver) taking sixth place and Rachel Ainley (11) seventh place.
