Squash star Nick Matthew has earned a gold medal in the men’s singles competition after successfully defending his title.
Nick, who plays locally in the Premier Squash League for Duffield-based Benz-Bavarian Duffield, saw off the challenge posed by his great rival James Willstrop, to win a match that went to five games, with Nick eventually winning 3-2.
The current World Champion, who also won singles and doubles gold at the last Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010, celebrated his 34th birthday last week and has now won his last 25 meetings with Willstrop.
In 2010, James Willstrop was the silver medallist when Nick Matthew beat him in the singles final in three games.
