Great evening for young swimmers at Mini Marlin event

Last Thursday evening saw the Summer Sprints come to the Mini Marlin Swimming Club at Heanor Leisure Centre.

Tearing down the pool, children from as young as four competed in the learner pool for the chance to receive a plethora of medals.

There was plenty of enthusiasm and sportsmanship on display in these keen youngsters. Some ploughed through the water with floats out front or wormy floats wrapped around them. Others, however, swam independently kicking up foam in their wake. It was a great evening where proud parents cheered and clapped all the efforts made by the young Marlin swimmers.

The swimmers’ places included in Stage One were - Isobel Fray, first and fifth, Emily Allen third and fourth, Rohan McLaughlin first and third, Lydia Norman fourth and fifth, Jacob Norman two seconds; Stage Two: - Ewan Lindsay second and fifth, Freya Taylor fourth and fifth, Marcus Clark second and third, Amelie Lincoln two firsts, Thomas Ardnt third and fourth; Stage Three: Thomas Thurnham fourth and seventh, Alice Roberts fifth and sixth, Oliver Henshaw fourth and fifth, Erin McCluskey sixth and seventh, William Clark two seconds, Sabine McLaughlin two firsts, Louis Canning two thirds; Stage Four: Joe Sadler second and third, Zac Terry seconnd and third, Benjamin Gration two fourths and Dean Thurnham two firsts.
