In the South Derbyshire Mens League - last season’s Division Three Champions Hazlewood have had a difficult run of away fixtures to start their Division Two campaign.
But they finally got their first win of this season with an excellent performance away to Allestree.
Wins for Jim McEwan (21-6), Peter Yates (21-8), Andy Waumsley (21-9), Steve Lightfoot(21-9) and crucially John Yates (21-19) meant that Hazlewood took the aggregate by 164-156 Shots to give them a 9-5 points victory.
In the same Division Two, Belper Pottery were in good form against visitors Kings Newton, taking the aggregate by 193-134 shots and the points by 9-3.
There were fine wins for John Marshall (21-5), newcomer Martin Stewart (21-8), Steve Bennett and Cliff James (both 21-13), James Bennett (21-14) and Brian Leeson (21-18).
In Division Three Belper Meadows travelled to Alvaston & Boulton and had five winners; Alan Ward (21-4), Mick Frost (21-7), Mick Nelson (21-9), Terry Fletcher (21-12), and John Hopkinson (21-17).
That left Belper with a 168-154 shots aggregate victory and a win by 9-5 points.
