Belper Marlin Swimming Club’s busy schedule has continued at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge Aquatic Centre.
Swimmers from right across Derbyshire converged to compete in the ASA Long Course Competition.
As always, Belper took a massive number of swimmers, all eager to beat their PBs and, in some cases, prove their mettle and get into the Regional Championships.
Young swimmers battled their way across the 50m pool.
As the halfway mark appeared, their legs tired but by gritting their teeth they piled on to the end.
Older swimmers, nine years and above, made it look easy, leaving a wake of white water in their trail.
The team and crowd cheered on each swimmer and this obviously had the desired effect on the success on the day.
Belper Marlin came back with a credible trophy haul with 67 top placings, which is nine more than last year and exceeds 2006 to 2010 totalled altogether.
Special mentions must go to best placed first by Ryan Horobin, William Brookes, Casper Raynard, Joshua Horobin, Maddie Shrimpling, Domonic Shrimpling and Leah Hollingsworth; second placed Danny Skinner, Dan Breeze Katy Dymond, Samuel Brookes, Connor Osin; third placed Tia Millington, Sam Frost, Rob Rantzen, George Chamberlain, Howie Barden and fourth to sixth placings for Mike Brett, Lucy Frost, Sarah Dymond, Amy Hewitt, Emily Ingram, Callum Phelan, Rob Ainley, Aidey Brown and Dani Hollingsworth.
