Ladies end losing streak

BELPER Ladies first XI ended a run of five successive defeats since the Christmas break by beating bottom-placed Aldridge 1-0 at home last weekend.

The Nailers piled on the pressure but were unable to make the most of their many opportunities.

The breakthrough came mid-way in the second half when Kerry McCollum deflected a short corner shot into the net.

A relieved Belper team were happy to take the valuable three points that lifts them to seventh position in the league with two games to go.

Belper men’s first XI suffered a blank day after continuous overnight and early morning rain put paid to their scheduled home game against Brooklands MU last Sunday.

This Sunday (March 11) Belper entertain league leaders leaders Sheffield at home - weather permitting!
