Belper Strutt No 1 edged past Matlock Cons on the final black in the J K Interiors & Joinery Services Snooker League

Ben Monk had contributions of 38 and 23 for Belper Strutt No 1, for whom Mark Newby and Richard Murren scraped home in the doubles to earn the verdict after earlier singles wins for Gareth Johnson and Chris Parker had put the visitors in front.

The other match featured a Belper derby with Jaxx Q Club defeating Strutt Club No 2 4-1.

Tim Maslin top scored for the victors who were home and hosed before Justin Weller and Keith Hubbold took the doubles leg.

At the top of the table, league leaders Edgefold No 1’s battle with their No 2 team which went to the wire.

Richard Ferguson, with the highest league break so far of 47, took the opener before Andy Russell increased the lead courtesy of his own run of 42 to see off danger man Martyn Taylor.

However, Luke Thomas on his debut pulled one back before Sean Dobney’s black ball win over Neil Parkinson made it all square going into the deciding doubles.

It was Russell and Rob Muxlow who held sway here however, with a vital 75-53 win to keep their side’s unbeaten record intact.
