Sunday saw Mike Allen, Bill Cotton and Derrick Woodings compete in the Alford Road Race, a 42-mile event comprising of 4.5 laps of the nine-mile circuit near Louth in Lincolnshire.
A hard circuit with a tough uphill finish, the wind also makes this circuit difficult as it is very exposed near to the North Sea coast, adjacent to Mablethorpe.
Two riders broke away early in the race and were able to stay out in front, taking first and second places, although this pair very nearly got caught on the line in the end by a bunch sprint.
Belper’s Mike Allen easily won this sprint, gaining him third overall place and also winning his age category.
Bill finished third in the same age category as Mike, while Derrick finished fourth in his category.
In other news, the club islooking to start a new Saturday club cycle ride, aimed at new or inexperienced riders from June 1.
