What is Tae Kwon-Do?

Belper Tae Kwon-Do martial art club are celebrating more success after six pupils achieved their black belts at a recent grading held in Bristol.

Leading the way was Katie Mills who won promotion to a black belt second degree.

There were black belt first degree successes for Mia Swift, Rhys Vickers, Jade Staley, Ella Fields and Alex Tomlinson.

The pupils have all been tutored by club instructor Karl Duro who is a highly regarded fourth dan black belt who started out in the sport just under 20 years ago and has been teaching at the club for over 14 years. He is taking his fifth dan in October.

Well established, Belper Tae Kwon-Do club has classes starting from the age of four-years-old and separate classes for adults and children which are held at Belper Leisure Centre.

Classes are held on Wednesday between 5.15pm to 6.30pm for lower grade children (under-16s); 6.30pm to 8pm for higher grade children and 8pm to 9.30pm for adults.

Saturday morning sees a new beginners children’s course between 9.30am and 10.30am. Between 10.30am and noon is for lower grade children. Sunday night between 6pm and 7.30pm is for higher grade children and 7.30pm to 9pm is for adults.
