Twice a year, members of Belper Marlin Swimming Club take part in an internal boot camp.
It is a day of intensive swimming and land training to brush off the cobwebs of the summer holidays.
Children from the age of seven through to adults worked their way through a day of swimming, fitness, boxing and basketball events at Alfreton Leisure Centre.
The boot camp was aiming to develop their core strength ready for the vigorous competitive season that had just begun.
Already with medals and a Four Town Gala under their belts, the youngsters came back together as a team ready to push for as many awards and accolades as they possibly could win for Belper Marlin Swimming Club.
Special mention usually goes to the children but this time it is to the head coach Mike Brett who gave up his time to coach sessions during the day, although it was his 50th birthday.
A club spokesman added: “Some people speculated that it was his way of forgetting the half century but unfortunately it back fired as a flaming cake appeared, backed by a chorus of 120 Marlin members, who were all singing Happy Birthday!”
