Trainer Alan King has missed out with several big-race fancies at major Saturday meetings in recent weeks. But he could strike gold today with an improving six-year-old fast emerging as a dark horse for the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March. This hot, competitive Christmas Hurdle represents the acid test of his credentials, but a superb victory off top weight in a big handicap on his seasonal re-appearance at Ascot last month means he holds every chance on official ratings. What’s more, he’s tough, consistent, goes best on right-handed tracks and is sure to handle the testing ground.
