Belper RFC U17s 19pts
Matlock U17s 27pts
ON a blustery day and with parts of the pitch likened to playing on treacle, Belper set out to s ee how much they had improved since their meeting earlier on in the year.
Belper started strongly and through a good line-out and great forward play, fly-half Frank Watson fed flanker Jake Holmes who skipped through numerous tackles to open the scoring at 7-0.
The hosts continued to play well as a team but a few mistakes allowed Matlock to score in the corner.
Some good running lines from Josh Gwilliam and the backs put Belper back in the visiting half. More good support from Jake Brewster feeding a cheeky pop pass to Joe Smith put him in the corner for his first try.
Matlock fought back and scored again, then after quick-thinking from Jake Holmes, taking a quick penalty and scoring under the posts.
Belper looked to be in control but unfortunately Matlock came back to edge victory.
