United make it three wins out of three at Blidworth

Blidworth Welfare 1

Belper United 3

Belper’s fine start to the season continued as they secured their third win in a row at Blidworth on Saturday.

United started brightly and after several good openings, Kyle Wadsworth scored the first by tapping home after the keeper pushed out a bullet header.

More chances were squandered until the 44th minute when again Wadsworth fired home from inside the area, taking his season’s tally to four.

The second-half was the same as the first with one-way traffic towards the Blidworth goal, the second arriving when Shaun Smith managed to break free and neatly chipped the advancing keeper.

The Blidworth keeper then made four stunning saves to deny Belper any further goals, before the hosts netted a consolation in the 89th minute.

United: Jablonski, Pride, Sparham, Sterland, Taylor, Wheeler, Wadsworth (C), Summers, Smith, Crosby. Subs: Whittingham, Wilde, T Perry, Dunne

Manager Steve Watson said: ‘We totally dominated and on another day could have scored a lot more.

“I am pleased with our general play and obviously happy to start with three straight wins. The only down side was the way we conceded the last minute goal and our clean sheet record.”
