Too Petty bring their tribute to Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers to The Flowerpot in Derby on Friday, February 1.
Tom Petty, along with his band The Heartbreakers, is one of the legendary figures in rock history.
80 million records sold, a Greatest Hits album that’s sold over ten million copies, he remains hugely popular around the world and in the UK, shown by the recent selling out of two nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall literally in minutes.
Recreating the classic songs, the musicianship, and incredible live shows is a new tribute band, Too Petty – A Tribute to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.
Featuring members of the UK’s first and best Fleetwood Mac tribute act, Fleetwood Bac, Too Petty has the same attention to detail, and commitment to authentically recreate the live experience of a Petty show.
Songs featured include classics like Free Falling, Refugee, Into The Great Wide Open, American Girl, Don’t Come Around Here No More, Mary Jane’s Last Dance, I Won’t Back Down, Running Down A Dream, Learning To Fly and many more.
On Saturday, February 2, you can see The Ron Sayer Band at the King Street-based venue.
Fronted by one of this country’s leading guitarists and most entertaining performers, the band will be making a first headline appearance at the Flowerpot.
Ron began playing guitar aged seven and was gigging by the time he was ten. He won the coveted title of Guitarist Of The Year and has played with/supported Buddy Guy, John Mayall, Walter Trout, Robin Trower, Ten Years After, Imelda May, Matt Schofield. Debbie Davies, Nine Below Zero, Stan Webb, Aynsley Lister, Oli Brown, Buddy Whittington and Popa Chubby.
His music is a combination of blues, funk and rock, and strives to create something fresh and uncomplicated for guitar music lovers everywhere.
Finally, on Thursday, February 7, there’s a gig by Henrik Freischlader, with support on the night from blues outfit Albany Down.
One of the most exciting new blues guitarists to emerge on the scene in recent years, Henrik Freischlader will be making his third appearance at the Flowerpot with his four-piece band, following last year’s sensational gig at the venue.
Henrik Freischlader is a stunning rock blues guitarist. Inspired by guitarists such as Gary Moore, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Peter Green, Rory Gallagher, Robben Ford, Henrik forged his own blues rock style. He’s opened for BB King, Gary Moore, Peter Green, Johnny Winter, Joe Bonamassa, Jethro Tull, etc. and developed his own style to the point that he’s a star in Europe.
In three years, he has played over 500 concerts and released three successful CDs, earning his place at the top of the blues scene. Some music critics predicted this at the beginning of his career, and now Henrik is exactly where he always wanted to be.
Doors open at 8pm and admission is £10 for Too Petty, £9 for the Ron Sayer Band and £12 for Henrik Freischlader.
