AN exhibition of the work of Matthew Harris is entering its final few weeks at the Beetroot Tree Gallery in Draycott.
The exhibition, entitled Discordant Imperfection – Matthew Harris Solo, can be seen until Sunday, January 8.
Talking about the works on display, Matthew Harris explained: “I am not interested in ‘perfect’ textiles but rather in a cloth that is made imperfect as a result of tears, patches, darns and frayed edges. Held together with a utilitarian stitch, these random and chaotic interruptions in the pattern and surface of the cloth provide the impetus for my work. Pieces are constructed in response to drawings of things I have seen.“
Works have sold and plenty of visitors have visited the gallery especially to see his work since the exhibition opened on November 19. Come and hear Matthew talk about his work on January 8 at 4pm to conclude the exhibition. This is a free event but places must be booked.
