Stories will be told at Matlock event

Matlock Storytelling Café returns on the Friday, March 3.

It will feature performances at the Imperial Rooms in Matlock by Amy Douglas and Lucy Wells.

Amy Douglas has been storytelling throughout her whole life. Her most recent book - Shropshire Folk Tales - won a Storytelling World Honours Award. She is a gossip, wordsmith and lover of the spoken word in all its forms.

A storyteller of integrity, wit and subtle humour, she has been an integral part of the re-emergence of torytelling in Shropshire and Britain.

Musician, performer and artist, Lucy Wells has always loved stories and the gold thread of narrative runs bright through all her multi-faceted work. Lucy has a deep-rooted love of the natural world and traditional story is the heartbeat of our connection with the world around us. Lucy is a qualified Tai Chi teacher, and an initiated fire keeper with the Sacred Fire community, a global movement of people dedicated to raising awareness of the living nature of the world and elemental forces.

Matlock Storytelling Cafe is a unique night out in the heart of the Peak District.The candlelit tables foster a warm welcoming atmosphere. Soup, hot drinks and great cakes are available and you can bring your booze. Tickets are £7.

Doors open at 6.45pm so make sure you are sitting comfortably for a 7.30pm start.

Matlock Storytelling will be taking a break in April but it will be back on May 5.
