Derbyshire Landscape – New Paintings is the latest exhibition at gallerytop in Rowsley and can be seen from April 16 to May 22.

On show are new works by artists selected for their talent and integrity, including Kristan Baggaley, Colin Halliday, James Preston, Gareth Buxton and others.

At the exhibition, you will see materials, skills, and experience come together to represent the beauty and diversity of the landscape in numerous ways. But ultimately it is the artist’s eye and individual emotional response creates that inexplicable pull towards a particular piece.

For Gareth Buxton, who turned to painting full-time after a near fatal road accident in 2004, ‘each painting is a unique snapshot and emotional representation of me at the time it is created’. Kristan Baggaley has exhibited with gallerytop for a number of years and his paintings reflect the vigour and energy with which they are painted.

Colin Halliday moved to Derbyshire from Cumbria in 2005 and has quickly established a name for himself in the area, having exhibited previously in several London solo shows.

gallerytop is open from 10am to 5pm from Tuesdays to Saturdays, and from 11am to 5pm on Sundays. For more details, call 01629 735580.
