Award-winning local chorus DaleDiva can help you get into the Christmas spirit with a series of festive concerts and market stall events.

The Divas are their way to the World Championships in Las Vegas next year and are hosting a programme of events to add their musical festive sparkle and also to raise funds.

The Matlock Bath-based women’s four-part harmony chorus won at national convention this year which means it will be ‘Going for Gold’ singing against some of the best choruses in the world on the famous MGM Grand stage in October 2015.

It will be the Divas’ biggest challenge yet to raise £65,000 over the next ten months to help get every Diva to Vegas.

DaleDiva musical director Ally Law said: “The Divas have got a very exciting new year coming up and we’re ending a fabulous 2014 with our busiest Christmas yet. We’re so proud to be representing Derbyshire and our country in the World Championships and are doing everything we can to get the whole chorus to Vegas.

“We’re appealing for sponsors and have drawn up a packed programme of fundraising events over Christmas and the coming year. With help from our local community we know we can do it and appreciate every little bit of support we get.”

Tickets are on sale for two Christmas with DaleDiva concerts, at Bakewell Methodist Church in Matlock Street, Bakewell, on Thursday December 11, at 7.30pm, and at Holy Trinity Church in Derby Road, Matlock Bath, on Thursday, December 18, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7 and available from www.dalediva.com or on 01629 56988 or 07594 890 625.

Festive shoppers can also see the Divas in action on December 13, busking in Matlock in the morning, moving through Matlock Bath and on to Masson Mills Shopping Village in the afternoon.

The chorus has drawn up a packed programme of extra Las Vegas fundraising events over the coming year and people can also help by visiting its ‘Going for Gold’ webpage to see how they can donate and get involved from as little as £1 at www.dalediva.com
