Fans of pop legends Madness will want to head for The Flowerpot in Derby on Friday, May 2, when tribute act Ultimate Madness make an appearance there.
Ultimate Madness are an outstanding Madness tribute band.
This nutty, fun packed tribute to one of the UK’s most popular bands is not to be missed.
Audience participation is actively encouraged throughout this crazy, non-stop performance.
Since the band’s formation in June 2002, Ultimate Madness have quickly become one of the most successful Madness tribute bands in the country.
There is huge demand for the band everywhere including Holland and Germany.
In fact they’ve hardly come up for air since they put this spectacular tribute show together.
Camden Town’s ‘nutty boys’ first hit the charts in 1979 with their debut single The Prince and went on to be become one of the most popular British bands of the 1980s, with their much-loved mix of ska and classic pop.
The seven-piece enjoyed a huge strings of hits including One Step Beyond, My Girl, Baggy Trousers, It Must Be Love, House Of Fun (their only number one single), Driving In My Car, Our House and many many more.
After splitting in 1986, they reformed for a rapturously received reunion gig in 1992 after the success of their compilation album Divine Madness.
Since then they have gigged regularly and have released a number of well-crafted, catchy albums, including 2009’s massively acclaimed The Liberty Of Norton Folgate.
They have even had a West End musical - Our House - crafted from their back catalogue.
Then, on Saturday, May 2, you can see a gig by The Ben Poole Band at the King Street venue.
Ben Poole is a fast rising blues guitarist who is currently touring Europe, and playing the Flowerpot for the second time with his band.
Inspired by the blues, infused with a hard hitting, “in-yer-face” rock approach and topped off by virtuoso musicianship, Ben Poole is being talked of as “the” new up-and-coming UK Blues guitarist.
Indeed, he is seen as one of the finest to have emerged in Europe for years.
Having already played with, and received critical acclaim from, some of his heroes - legendary blues artists including Jeff Beck, Gary Moore and John Mayall - at just 22 years of age it appears that there is no stopping this young and incredibly gifted musician.
His latest recordings reinforce this and make it blatantly clear that Ben is destined for a great future on the European blues/rock scene.
Doors open for both gigs at The Flowerpot at 8pm.
Admission is £10 to see Ultimate Madness and £10 for The Ben Poole Band’s appearance at the venue.
Advance tickets are available from The Flowerpot and RAW Promotions.
