Popular music duo Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman will be performing at The Fishpond in Matlock Bath on Saturday, March 3.

Kathryn Roberts and husband Sean Lakeman have been recording together for almost 20 years, first as young prodigies in Equation and for the last decade as a duo.

Their newest album, Hidden People, was their first together for eight years, as Kathryn had taken time out to look after their twin daughters while Sean toured with brother Seth and produced the Levellers.

Kathryn (vocals/piano/woodwind), and Sean (guitar), have returned in fine style after their break in the mid-noughties.

Two of the British folk scene’s most accomplished performers, Kathryn and Sean have graced stages the world over in a number of guises.

However, the intimacy and strength of passion shown as a duo, combined with an eclectic repertoire ensures a rare treat for any listener.

With a story that includes music making with the likes of Seth Lakeman, Cara Dillon, Levellers, Kate Rusby and Show of Hands, Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman have established themselves as pillars of modern British folk.

The couple won Best Duo at the 2013 Folk Awards and Roberts’ song The Ballad of Andy Jacobs was also nominated as Best Original Song.

Roberts’ strong and emotional voice, allied to Lakeman’s sensitive guitar accompaniment makes for a beguiling mix.
