The Flowerpot in Derby kicks off its week of music entertainment on Friday, October 24, with a return visit from Sinnerboy.

Sinnerboy is a talented group of musicians paying tribute to the musical legacy of the late Rory Gallagher.

Rory Gallagher, who passed away in 1995, had a huge impact on the world of blues and rock and is recognised as Ireland’s first real rock star, blazing the trail for many major Irish acts to follow on the international stage.

Apart from his reputation as one of the greatest ever exponents of the electric guitar, Rory left behind an enduring musical legacy which has received fresh recognition and attracted a whole new generation of younger fans over recent years. He was a prolific composer and in his lifetime recorded 15 albums of highly original and soulful blues and rock material.

On the first anniversary of Rory’s death, Barry Barnes promoted the first ever tribute concert to his lifelong hero, then in 2000 Barry went on to form Sinnerboy with the sole intention of keeping Rory’s memory alive.

Sinnerboy have a huge reputation for faithfully recapturing the sound and excitement of a live “Rory gig” and are firm favourite with audiences at The Flowerpot.

Then, on Saturday, October 25, you can see a gig at the King Street venue by Los Pacaminos, a band featuring former chart topper Paul Young.

Los Pacaminos got together in London over 20 years and were originally put together by members with a shared love of Border, Tex-Mex and Americana music.

Los Pacaminos is fronted by one of the UK’s finest and best loved vocalists, Paul Young. However, Paul is not the only luminary in this seven-piece band. Some of the best musicians in the business have teamed up to present an incendiary mix of classics and original material, creating a real party atmosphere that has been lapped up by appreciative audiences from far and wide.

The latest in the free Acoustic Wednesdays sessions in the bar is on October 29 and features an evening of acoustic roots and blues from The Broadcasters.

Finally, on Thursday, October 30, you can see a set at The Flowerpot by Simon McBride.

Simon hails from Ireland and is a talented and acclaimed rock and blues songwriter and guitarist, whose work is gaining him recognition as a multi-talented performer.

Support on the night comes from Nathan O’Regan.

Doors open for all gigs at 8pm.

Admission is £10 for Sinnerboy, £15 for Los Pacaminos and £12 for the Simon McBride Band.
