A SCINTILLATING night of poems, music, comedy and improvisation are in store at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal on June 26 courtesy of the Ian McMillan Orchestra.

A collection of ‘astonishing, awesome and beautiful’ songs will be presented by the ‘Bard of Barnsley’, Ian McMillan, accompanied by composer Luke Carver Goss, with their band of talented ensemble players.

Their new CD Homing In gathers together two years of writing and touring of a unique blend of poetry, comedy and instrumental wizardry. Numbers range from humorous to poignant to angry.

Ian McMillan hosts weekly hit radio show The Verb. He is poet-in-residence for English National Opera, The Academy of Urbanism and Barnsley FC, Yorkshire Planetarium’s Poet in Space, Humberside Police’s Beat Poet and a regular on Pick of the Week, The Arts Show, The Today Programme, You & Yours and Have I Got News For You?

He was featured with his Orchestra on The South Bank Show and his rip-roaring poetry shows are legendary.
