THE Flowerpot in Derby plays host to popular tribute act Fred Zeppelin on Friday, October 28.
The band explores the illustrious back catalogue of Messrs Plant, Page, Jones and Bonham, fronted by the Robert Plant look-and-soundalike talents of Steve Gale.
Fred Zeppelin’s live tributes to Led Zeppelin have brought them great acclaim over the past 18 yearsa, and have even seen them welcome Robert Plant himself to three of their gigs. They have also jammed with John Bonham’s son Jason.
Their latest gig in the area offers a real treat for Led Zep fans wanting to enjoy the music of the band in a live setting.
Another hugely successful band gets the tribute treatment on Saturday, October 29, when Coldplace put in an appearance, with their set of songs made famous by Chris Martin and his band of merry men.
Formed by Coldplay fans, for Coldplay fans, the band has notched up over 300 gigs during the past seven years, wowing audiences around the UK and beyond with their renditions of some Colplay’s globe-conquering hits.
Coldplace combine top musicianship and showmanship to produce memorable performances and, in frontman Shane Crofts, possess a singer with an uncanny resemblance to Chris Martin.
The latest Acoustic Wednesdays session takes place on Wednesday, November 2, and features the return of old Flowerpot favourites Woolley and Archer, performing a free gig in the bar, from 9pm onwards.
Finally, fans of Welsh rockers The Alarm will not want to miss a gig by frontman Mike Peters at the King Street venue on Thursday, November 3.
Still fondly remembered for such major hits as 68 Guns, Mike Peters is currently in the middle of an Alarm 30th Anniversary Acoustic Tour, and his latest gig brings him to Derby next week.
Doors open for the Coldplace, Fred Zeppelin and Mike Peters gigs at 8pm.
Admission is £8 (£7 concessions) for Coldplace, and also for Fred Zeppelin, and £10 for Mike Peters.
