Local charities have been receiving donations for many years from the money raised by Elvaston Steam Rally and this year the organising committee is aiming for an even greater amount.
Since 2002, just short of £50,000 has been presented to a host of local charities, varying from Rainbows Children’s Hospice and the County Air Ambulance, to local scout groups and play groups.
Cliff Rodgers, chairman of the committee, said: “All the people who help in organising the event are enthusiasts in their own area and give their time freely.
“All money raised is either given to local charities or invested in organising next year’s rally.”
This year, the Rally will be held on July 2-3 at Elvaston Castle Country Park, just south of Derby near the village of Thulston.
