The Opinion Makers is a musical comedy that can be seen at Derby Theatre from November 13-23.

This co-production with Colchester’s Mercury Theatre has been described as Mad Man meets Miranda and stars Mel Giedroyc, recently seen co-hosting The Great British Bake-Off.

Joining Mel Giedroyc are two more familiar faces, Justin Edwards and Daniel Boys.

Justin Edwards, who is known through his TV roles in shows including The Thick of It, Skins and the sketch show Harry & Paul, will be playing the hapless Fernsby.

West End regular Daniel Boys will take the roles of Penhall and Abramowitz in the musical, penned by critically acclaimed writing team, Brian Mitchell and Joseph Nixon.

The Opinion Makers is centred on the incompetent team at Fernsby Market Research. As they take on the challenge of rebranding the cure-all Dr Campbell’s Lotion, Lassiter and her colleague Penhall play a high-stakes gamble, creating all of the market research over a few too many pints in the local pub.

Along the way we encounter a Scottish laird with a dark secret, his glamorous American gold-digger wife and an insane Home Secretary-inwaiting.

The songs transport you back to the world of the swinging ‘60s for an hilarious, off-beat musical take on the birth of the pollster.

Tickets are £10.50-£25.50 (concessions £10.50-£23.50).
