Vamos Theatre Company will be performing their show Finding Joy at Crich’s Glebe Field Centre on Saturday, March 29, as part of the Live And Local scheme.
Finding Joy is a comic, anarchic and touching full mask adventure.
It tells the story of love, care and affection between 80-year-old Joy and her teenage grandson.
Joy is creative, funny, loves to dance, and is losing her memory: her grandson Danny is rebellious, fearless, bright, and always getting into trouble.
Where will their unexpected and tender bond lead them when, out of the blue, Danny decides to become Joy’s carer?
You’re unlikely to have seen anything like a Vamos Theatre show: it is full mask theatre with no words, the story told through mime and a vibrant original soundtrack.
It is accessible, unashamedly nostalgic, and very funny. Finding Joy brims with visual inventiveness, music, puppetry, dexterity and hilarity; it is based on life events and true stories, and takes the audience into the 1930s, the 1950s and the present day. It is performed on an intricate set that is full of surprises.
The show is suitable for children aged 12 and over. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
A licensed bar and refreshments are available.
Tickets in advance cost £9 for adults and £7 for those aged 12–16 (on the door, if available, add £1)
