Former EastEnders actress Lucy Speed has been confirmed as the star of Amateur Girl at Nottingham Playhouse.
The play will run at the theatre from February 3-8.
Lucy has appeared on our television screens for many years and is best known for her roles as Natalie Evans (nèe Price) in EastEnders and as DS Stevie Moss in The Bill.
Amateur Girl will complement the Playhouse’s production of My Judy Garland Life in the main house, and is also written by Amanda Whittington.
Based on real-life stories, Amateur Girl is a hard-hitting, poignant and wryly amusing play about the reality behind the fantasy business and what some people have to do to subsidise a life on a minimum wage.
Lucy will be playing Julie, a likeable auxiliary nurse who works long hours for a low wage in a Nottingham hospital.
Her desire for excitement and a bit of spare cash leads her to enter into the world of amateur girls and her new boyfriend is only too keen to help.
However her new lucrative career can’t stay secret for long and what starts as a bit of fun becomes anything but.
Amateur Girl is presented by Fifth Word and Nottingham Playhouse whose previous collaboration was Bones and presented in autumn 2012. Amateur Girl will play at Nottingham Playhouse from February 3-8 and then tour.
