BAKEWELL: Hairdresser Aimee beats Mr Darcys to Pies and Prejudice crown
It was a Miss Darcy who triumphed in the battle of the sexes by giving one in the eye to the eight Mr Darcys competing for the spoils in the Pies and Prejudice event.
Hairdresser Aimee Wood, 24, of Air Salon in Bakewell, emerged victorious after team-mates Paula Sutherill, Liz McGoverne, Liz Ashmore, Andrea Rodgers and Nicola Crowther fiercely protected their mate from the volley of plates filled with shaving foam.

Hide AdAlready tug-of-war champions at last year’s Bakewell Carnival, the girls said that the pie-flinging spectacular had been great fun.
Special guest Edwina Currie found herself in the unenviable position of having to choose the best dressed Mr Darcy.
Enlisting help from female spectators, she awarded the prize to product designer Ian Cheetham, 49, of North Church Street, Bakewell. Runner-up was Ethan Hockley-Webster, 18, of Bakewell.
