5. Ripley
Shoppers are invited to take part in a trick or treat trail which will unlock discounts in Ripley shops on ShopAppy.com and earn them sweets and treats in local shops from October 25 to 31, 2021. Residents can pick trails up Monday - Saturday from Ripley Library between the hours of 9:30am and 4pm and are invited to share a picture of their spooky outfits on social media tagging @shopappyuk using hashtags #SpooktacularVTC #shoplocalRipley #ShopAppyHalloween on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook! 6. Ambergate
Look at the classic Ford Anglia 105E, identical to the one enchanted by Ron Weasley’s dad in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets to fly and become invisible, at the Great British Car Journey in Ambergate on October 31. A selection of the classic cars will be on display, courtesy of the Ford Anglia 105E Owners Club. Prizes are up for grabs for children turning up in Harry Potter-themed fancy dress and youngsters can enjoy taking part in a Hedwig Hunt. Family tickets (two adults and up to 3 children) are £30, a saving of £10. Entry includes access to the Harry Potter Halloween event from 10am to 6pm (last entry at 4pm), pre-booking is essential for Halloween event. 7. Bolsover
Head to Bolsover Castle from October 23 to 31 for a fantastic day out exploring the brand-new adventure trail which has been inspired by Cressida Cowell’s bestselling Wizards of Once series. Can you find the magic ingredients for the spell to get rid of witches and uncover the location of the Cup of Second Chances? Come along in frightful fancy dress and you could win a prize. For older visitors of 16+ years, there are evening ghost tours from October 28 to 31, running from 5.30pm to 9pm. 8. Wirksworth
A spook-tacular journey awaits families at Ecclesbourne Valley Railway in Wirksworth where, from October 29 to 31, you can ride a heritage train into the darkness of the night while onboard performers tell a story of monsters, a dark fairy and ghosts of the past. There will be a Halloween-themed goodie bag for every child.The show is mostly amusing but is not recommended for children under five years old.
