EMAAN a unique network which promotes the benefits and opportunities of apprenticeships for all – why not join us to share your experiences.

The East Midland Apprenticeship Ambassador Network is passionate about apprenticeships; its goal is to promote apprenticeships as a positive career choice, and to help those considering an apprenticeship as a career option or employers to develop delivery of programmes.

Now, as principal sponsors of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Apprentice Awards, organised by National World, EMAAN wants to reach out to more people than ever.

Employer Chair of EMAAN Angela Borman says there are dated myths around apprenticeships, but they are inclusive, exciting and for all ages.

“At EMAAN we are passionate about apprenticeships and apprentices. Many people think they are just for school leavers, or limited to just a few career types, but that is very far from the case.

“Apprenticeships are available for school leavers, those finishing college or universities, or adults looking for a change of direction or who are returning to workplace.”

EMAAN is a collection of local employers and apprentices from throughout the East Midlands, whose volunteer ambassadors champion the awareness of apprenticeships, encourage people to explore and consider joining, and support businesses which employ apprentices.

There’s a network of ambassadors across 9 regions in England, and its members include employers and apprentices themselves, who all give up their time and experience to advocate for apprenticeships. Together they help ensure that apprenticeships on offer are to a good standard, and they aim to inspire and influence people to choose apprenticeships, to meet individual and business needs.

Angela added: “Members of the Network tell their stories of apprenticeships to inspire; we support and signpost partners and individuals to key relevant information; have a voice to provide insight to Government on apprenticeships and celebrate the successes of our employers and apprentices.”

While locally relevant, EMAAN makes up part of a network of national importance.

According to apprentices.gov.uk whether you are interested in creative industries or care, animals or art, a career in law or logistics, there are apprenticeships available to help you discover an exciting future.

Angela added: “We would love people who are already apprentices or employers who have not already joined our network to reach out. There’s support, advice and a friendly bunch of people with relevant experience who can answer most queries.

“We are very proud to be principal sponsors of the awards … please take time to browse all the categories and nominate your apprentices, team or your business for an award. Not only is there a chance your success story may pick up one of the top honours, the event night itself is a really important chance to meet with others on the same pathway as yourself, and to make connections for the future.

“Finally, if you or a family member is looking for a career change, we would actively encourage apprenticeships. The ‘earn while you learn’ message remains true, but the opportunities are incredible compared to even a generation ago.”
